Responsibilities:
Surface Integrity & Pre-treatment: You will oversee the "Audit" of the degreasing and pre-treatment lines, making sure the substrate is completely ready for optimal paint adherence.
Color and Gloss Calibration: To make sure that each batch of paint matches the "Master Sample" with no variation in shade or reflection, you will utilize Spectrophotometers and Gloss Meters.
Defect Root Cause Analysis: You will conduct technical "deep dives" to determine whether the cause is in the chemical mix, the spray pressure, or the clean-room environment when problems like "Orange Peel," "Fish Eyes," or "Dust Contamination" arise.
Testing and Durability Validation: To make sure the coating lasts a lifetime of use, you will supervise stringent testing procedures, such as cross-hatch adhesion, salt spray (corrosion), and UV weather resistance.
Process Optimization (Yield): You will examine "First Time Through" (FTT) rates in the paint booth and make technical adjustments to cut down on rework and our coating process's environmental impact.
Required Skills:
Technical expertise includes a thorough understanding of powder coating, E-Coat (ED), and paint chemistry (solvent vs. water-borne).
Testing Proficiency: Expert proficiency with adhesion test kits, gloss meters, and Elcometers (DFT gauges).
Environmental Control: Knowledge of "Clean Room" requirements and how humidity and temperature affect paint curing.
Standards Knowledge: Understanding of ASTM, ISO, or paint standards unique to automobiles (such as VDA 6.3 or customer-specific appearance specifications).
Experience: 0 to 3 yrs
