Responsibilities:
CAM ToolpathGeneration: Develop high-efficiency toolpaths especially for Vertical Machining Centers using sophisticated software like as Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidCAM, or Delcam.
Work-Holding Strategy: During high-speed milling, design or choose suitable fixtures, vices, and "tombstones" to guarantee the workpiece stays rigid and precisely positioned.
Tooling & Holder Selection: To reduce "run-out" and vibration, specify the precise end mills, face mills, drills, and taps needed; choose the appropriate tool holders.
Calculate the best spindle speeds and feed rates based on machine horsepower, material hardness, and tool coatings to extend tool life.
Multi-Axis Programming: Reduce "stack-up" errors by programming 4th-axis or 5-axis movements to machine complicated shapes in a single setup.
G-CodeVerification: To check for collisions between the spindle, the tool, and the fixtures, use "Back-plotting" and full machine simulation.
Required Skills:
Software Mastery: Proficiency in at least one major CAM program and basic CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) for modifying models at the expert level.
Blueprint & GD&T Literacy: The capacity to comprehend geometric symbols and decipher intricate designs with precise tolerances.
Shop Math: The ability to compute intersection points and tool vectors using coordinate geometry and trigonometry.
Material science is the study of how various materials, such as steel, aluminum, inconel, and plastic, respond to heat and cutting forces.
The ability to identify "Chatter," inaccurate dimensions, or poor surface finish and modify the program accordingly.
Experience: 5+ yrs
