Job Description
Duties:
Machine Setup & Changeover: Install jigs, fixtures, and work-holding devices to get CNC lathes, mills, or turning centers ready for fresh production runs.
Tooling Management: Mount the cutting tools (drills, end mills, and inserts) in the tool turret or magazine after choosing, assembling, and pre-setting them according to the tool list.
G-code and M-code programs should be uploaded to the machine controller for program loading and optimization. "Dry runs" should be carried out to make sure that no tools collide.
First-Off Inspection: Make sure the "first-off" part satisfies all blueprint requirements by producing it and doing a thorough inspection with precision tools.
Process fine-tuning: To maximize cycle times while upholding stringent surface polish and dimensional constraints, modify tool offsets, spindle speeds, and feed rates.
Troubleshooting: During the setup stage, identify and fix complicated machining problems like vibration, tool chatter, or dimensional drift.
Technical Documentation: To give CNC operators precise instructions, update setup sheets and tool life management records.
Mentoring: Help machine operators with complicated tool changes or mid-run adjustments by offering them technical advice.
Focus Skills:
Proficiency in intricate technical drawings and GD&T is a sign of advanced blueprint literacy.
Programming knowledge includes being able to modify G-code and M-code and being conversant with CAM tools.
Precision measurement: Using height gauges, CMMs, and shadow graphs at an expert level.
Mechanical aptitude: a thorough comprehension of material characteristics, coolant usage, and metal cutting physics.
