Job Description
Duties:
Precision 2D Technical Drafting: Use Autodesk AutoCAD to create intricate, multi-view 2D engineering drawings, including as orthogonal views, sectional layouts, assembly diagrams, and detailed component blowouts.
GD&T and Tolerance Application: Determine the best fit classes, clearance allowances, and stack-up tolerances for interacting parts by applying precise Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing parameters.
Manufacturing Blueprint Optimization: Determine precise design developments for shop-floor operations, including nested layouts for efficient laser cutting, bend deductions, and precise sheet metal flat-pattern developments.
Bill of Materials Architecture: Within the core ERP/PLM system, create, organize, and audit comprehensive Bill of Materials grids that include precise material grades, part weights, hardware counts, and finish specifications.
Design-for-ManufacturingReviews: Adjust radii, wall thicknesses, and hole locations to meet internal punch-press, stamping, and CNC machining capabilities while evaluating incoming raw product concepts against fundamental DFM restrictions.
Focus Skills:
Advanced AutoCAD Command Fluency: Total operational speed and proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD software, with a focus on advanced layering matrices, dynamic blocks, sheet set managers, XREFs, and parametric restrictions.
Blueprint Reading and GD&T Competency: Excellent ability to understand and use intricate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) callouts, such as runout limitations, concentricity, and surface profile bounds.
A strong grasp of fundamental industrial fabrication techniques, such as sheet metal stamping, progressive die operations, plastic injection molding framework, and welded assembly sequences, is known as manufacturing process literacy.
Basic 3D CAD Modeling Adaptability: To extract baseline 2D drawing projections from solid models, further operational comfort is required when interacting with 3D CAD platforms (such SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo).
