Job Description
Duties:
Execution of Shielded Metal Arc Welding: Use manual ARC/SMAW equipment in various places to create superior structural joints on carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and heavy iron plates.
Engineering Blueprint & Symbol Analysis: To carry out specified joint designs, read, decipher, and dissect comprehensive fabrication blueprints, weld sizing tables, and standard AWS welding symbols.
Metal Joint Pretreatment Preparation: Chamfer, bevel, and clean structural joint faces using angle grinders, oxy-fuel torches, or plasma cutters to prepare raw production materials for fusion.
Electrode Selection & Parameter Calibration: Depending on the thickness of the material, choose the appropriate stick electrode type and diameter. Then, modify the welding machine's amperage levels to prevent undercut or burn-through
Weld Pool Defect Quality Tracking: Examine finished joints visually for quality deviations, such as cracking, undercut profiles, slag inclusions, and surface porosity, and fix any issues right away.

Focus Skills:
SMAW/Stick Welding Competency: Outstanding physical dexterity in carrying out manual stick arc welding procedures, regulating electrode travel speeds and arc length under steady heat profiles.
Proficiency in interpreting heavy fabrication drawings, isometric structural prints, and formal weld symbol frameworks is a prerequisite for industrial blueprint and print reading.
Precision Hand & Power Tool Handling: The ability to properly operate large workshop metal prep equipment, such as industrial grinders, sanders, and oxy-acetylene torch rigs.
Thermal Metallurgy Foundation: Fundamental knowledge of heat inputs, metal expansion characteristics, thermal distortion dynamics, and structural distortion control techniques.
