Job Description
Duties:
Metal Fusion & Welding Execution: To fuse carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy structures in all welding locations, set up and run manual shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) equipment.
Interpretation of Blueprints and Weld Symbols: Examine, decipher, and correctly implement structural drawings, technical fabrication blueprints, and standard welding symbols (AWS configurations).
Material Preparation & Joint Fitting: Use clamps, fixtures, and tack welds to precisely bevel, grind, pre-heat, and align raw metal joins before welding.
Electrode Selection and Parameter Calibration: Choose the appropriate consumable electrode rods and adjust the welding machine's voltage, polarity, and amperage to meet the thickness of the plate.
Post-Weld Quality Inspections: Use angle grinders, wire brushes, and chipping hammers to remove surface contaminants, slag, and spatter from finished weld joints.

Focus Skills:
Superior Hand-Eye Coordination: Excellent physical endurance, arm stability, and muscular control to sustain a consistent arc length and welding speed over long shifts.
SMAW Electrode & Metallurgy Depth: In-depth knowledge of how various core materials respond to electrode coatings, cooling rates, and thermal heat input.
Precision Hand Tool Tooling Mastery: The ability to operate heavy-duty shop floor tools with expertise, such as slag chippers, oxy-acetylene cutting torches, angle grinders, and plasma cutters.
Technical blueprint literacy is the practical capacity to decipher dimensional measures, section cut drawings, and intricate mechanical layouts.
